Heart disease is the No. 1 health problem on the South Coast — with more than 33,000 people in our region suffering from heart disease.
Another 39 percent of people suffer heart attacks — and about two in five residents die from heart disease.
Southcoast Hospitals has made access to the best cardiac care a top priority — investing millions to bring lifesaving services to our region.
Southcoast Heart Centers
We have Heart Centers at Charlton Memorial Hospital and St. Luke's Hospital that offer the same level of technology available in teaching hospitals in Boston and Providence.
In 2002, we became the first of three community hospitals in the state to perform open heart surgery, making this lifesaving surgery available locally for the first time ever.
And since then we have treated hundreds of residents with outstanding results.
What does all of this mean for you and your family?
It means your local hospitals are at the forefront of community-based heart care — bringing the best care to where it is needed most.
We have your best health interests at heart.
